The Plug-In Electric Vehicle Credit is a federal tax credit that currently offers up to $7,500, in the form of a tax credit, for those that purchase a Qualified Plug-in Electric Drive Motor Vehicle. This credit is limited to the purchase of vehicle brands that have sold less than 200,000 Electric Vehicles. So far, General Motors and Tesla are the only two brands that have reached this threshold.
